Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2013 collection was inspired by the work of artist Aaron Moran, a contemporary artist from British Columbia known for his abstract geometric sculptures. The Resort collection mirrors Moran’s work with the use of sharp, precise lines, and digital abstract prints that also utilize elements found in nature.
One of the most interesting things about Aaron Moran’s work is that he strictly uses found materials, emphasizing the importance of recycling and using materials that have primarily served previous functions before they were turned into art. Very “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
Moran is still young and is constantly growing as an artist. Earlier this year Aaron contributed some work for a group exhibit at Circuit 12 Contemporary, a Dallas based gallery, which COMPLEX art + design just listed as one of ‘The 25 Best Art Exhibits of 2012 (So Far)”! Recently, he was given the opportunity to display his work at Zara stores in London, Madrid, and Barcelona.
With such a strong influence on many aspects of the art and design world, it will be exciting to see how Aaron pushes his work further in the future, and who else he will be inspiring.
