The world’s most prominent fashion designers are coming together to rework forty Mochilas. The Mochilas are hand woven by the Wayuu community in Guajira and are part of the 2011 Mochila Wayuu Project by BeLive.
The project, spearheaded by Lauren Santo Domingo, benefits indigenous communities in Colombia. Domingo is no stranger to the fashion industry or the Mochila Wayuu Project. Domingo served as, “Godmother” to the project in 2009 when it launched. In addition to leading this project Lauren will be styling the collection for a fashion show that will be produced at The Webster in Miami.
The Mochilas were available November 17th at a silent auction during the BeLive 5th Anniversary Celebration at The Ritz Carlton in South Beach, Florida. |
