The film, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, is based on Lisa See's best-selling novel set in 19th century China, about two women's lifelong friendship who develop their own secret language as a way to deal with the firm cultural norms forced on women. The film is a modern day spin on the original Shanghai story involving different characters, while still keeping the same themes of betrayal, friendship and atonement alive. This one hour and 40 minute experience leaves viewers with a sense of compassion for these strong female characters and educates viewers on Eastern Culture. Snowflower and the Secret Fan opens in select theaters today. To view a behind the scene clip with the author Lisa See, click here.
