The FLAG Art Foundation is currently exhibiting two unique shows: One, Another and Double Mobius by Roni Horn. One, Another explores coupling and interconnectedness in the realms of love, nature and spirituality through the unique works of several local and international contemporary artists surrounding the motifs of mirrors, nature, cosmos and existential forces to investigate themes such as transformation, sexuality, love, narcissism and identity.
Double Mobius is and exhibition of the works of Roni Horn including sculpture, work on paper, photography and books. Her work explores issues of gender, identity and androgyny as well as the simple physical reality of her chosen medium. The gold Double Mobius sculpture from which the exhibition derives its name further explores the concepts of mirror imaging and doubling, with its geometrical form that appears to have two sides but really only is one, which creates a sense of both intimacy and infinity. To celebrate the opening of these two incredible exhibitions, the FLAG art foundation put on a ballet piece called Dance of the Gallerinas, in which ballet dancers dressed as gallery owners and curators danced around the space, examining the work and celebrating the women who help run the art world. Check out a video of the dance here where you can also get a sneak peak at some of the work currently on display! You can check out both exhibits all summer, both are closing September 2nd.
