| Green Gardens: Extraordinary Gardens Around The World |
| |
In light of the Pitti Uomo show next week we thought it would only be appropriate to write our first green gardens story on the Boboli Gardens located behind the Pitti Palace in Florence. This incredible Renaissance garden was designed for Eleonora di Toledo, the wife of Cosimo l
de'Medici. The gardens house an eminent collection of sculptures from thesixteenth through eighteenth century. The Boboli Gardens set the standards for Europen royal gardens including the Palace of Versailles. See below for more garden highlights:
Neptune Fountain: Created by Stoldo Lorenzi this sculpture is of Neptune (God of Sea) centered in the pool and rising from a rock with beautiful plants surrounding.
Kaffeehaus: Located near the Neptune Fountain, Kaffeehaus is a terrace with a spectacular view of Florence as well as the Tuscan hills. The terrace was built by Zanobi del Russo for Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Hapsburgh-Lorraine.
